Hogwarts Legacy best graphics settings on Steam Deck
Now it’s time to go through some of the best graphics settings. Hogwarts Legacy isn’t the easiest game to run out there, but thankfully there is plenty of customization in the settings to allow you to enjoy reasonable framerates.
Recommended graphics settings for Hogwarts Legacy on Steam Deck:
- Low preset option in-game, medium at a stretch
- FPS limit of 30 is advised, at least until performance issues are resolved
- 720p game resolution recommended, native resolution is passable
- Enable AMD FSR 2 on Steam Deck
- Ray tracing disabled
How to boost your FPS in Hogwarts Legacy
Let’s go through some ideas to help you avoid any unwanted frame drops or stuttering that will undoubtedly put a damper on your Hogwarts Legacy gameplay.
Framerate lock and VSync are the first things we want to discuss. If you’re experiencing frame drops and screen tearing, it may be a good idea to cap your FPS at 60 or less and turn on VSync. The Steam Deck’s screen has a refresh rate of 60hz, so if you’re playing with the native resolution of 1280 x 800, we’d suggest capping FPS to avoid stuttering. We’ve also seen some benchmarks opt for a 30 FPS cap at the moment to ensure no hiccups.
Making sure all the graphics settings are set to as low as possible is obviously a good way of boosting FPS. Hogwarts Legacy seems to have a good range of options if you need to crank it all the way down to improve performance.
It’s also important to make use of AMD FSR 2 on the Steam Deck via the device’s performance options. To achieve this, follow the steps below.
- While Hogwarts Legacy is running, open the Quick Access Menu (QAM) – ‘…’ button on the right
- Scroll down to the performance tab with the battery icon
- Navigate to the advanced view in order to open all settings
- Find the scaling filter slider and set it to FSR
If make use of FSR properly, you’ll want to lower the resolution below native and making sure fullscreen mode is on.
