We now know the RTX 4080s dimensions, however, they do vary from card to card. We get it though, there is nothing worse than a clearance issue as you build your new gaming PC.

The good news is that a lot of medium to large mid-tower PC cases will accommodate the RTX 4080 graphics card.
The main thing you need to know when shopping for a new PC case is ‘GPU clearance’. Most, if not all, case manufacturers will list this with its specifications, giving you a clear picture of what can fit in advance.
The dimensions of the RTX 4080 we will discuss below but the golden rule is to ignore a lot of smaller mATX/ ITX cases with this GPU as it is not only a big boy but it can get quite hot too.
Another major area to check out with GPU clearance is whether or not the value given is to the front fans.
If it is, make sure you take into account any AIO radiators you need to install. Can they go on the top? Will the rad fit at the front event with the GPU installed? Double-check all of this before purchasing.
How big is the RTX 4080 GPU?
The size is pretty close to the RTX 4090, Nvidia’s monster flagship. This can make the task of squeezing it into existing rigs a bit tricky.

With a 4-slot card like this, smaller cases than a mid-tower could run extremely hot if you aren’t running a closed loop.
Of course there is always an open-air case to consider too but we highly recommend going for a large mid-tower.
Do you need additional PC case fans for the RTX 4080?
It depends. The PC case selections above all feature pre-installed case fans. We think as long as you have an intake and an outtake fan, along with decent airflow, you can’t go wrong.
If you have concerns, an additional fan is always welcome, however, if you already have three, there isn’t much need for any additions.
If you end up opting for our budget pick or a normal mid-tower where you are quite tight on space, additional fans may be required to get cool air circulating more effectively in your system.
