
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will continue preparing for barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections despite their postponement, Chairman George Erwin Garcia said in a statement on Wednesday.
Last Oct. 10, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed into law the bill suspending the elections originally scheduled for December 2022.
“For now, we shall continue with our preparations for the BSKE [barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections],” Garcia said.
Voter registration would also continue while the Comelec would revisit its planned procurement contracts and conduct information campaigns, among other things.
