Fight IT backs Marcos-Nograles bill making cigarette smuggling nonbailable




MANILA, Philippines — The Fight Illicit Trade (Fight IT) Movement commended the recent push from House Senior Deputy Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Marcos and PBA Partylist Rep. Margarita Ignacia Nograles to curb illicit tobacco trade through House Bill (HB) No. 3917.

The Marcos-Nograles bill aims to amend the 2016 Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act of 2016 (Republic Act No. 10845) to include and classify the illegal entry of raw tobacco, cigarettes, cigars, and heated tobacco products as economic sabotage and a nonbailable offense.
