Gabrielle Union and her stepdaughter Zaya Wade have undoubtedly become fashion icons in their own right.
The duo turned heads on the red carpet at the 34th GLAAD Media Awards at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on March 30. They joined Christina Aguilera, who received the Advocate for Change Award.

While the mother-daughter pair dressed elegantly for the occasion, they followed different fashion styles.
Zaya, who recently made her runway debut at Miu Miu’s Autumn-Winter 2023 show during Paris Fashion Week, sported a look from the brand’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection.
The 15-year-old model and LGBTQ+ advocate donned a tailored, black cropped button-up satin jacket and a matching miniskirt, with two large cargo pockets on the front and black shorts peeking out from underneath.
Zaya completed the outfit with sandal-style boots featured on this year’s Miu Miu’s spring/summer runway and the designer brand’s coveted pocket bag, making her look effortlessly chic. You can find her logo-embossed leather shoulder bag at Farfetch.

Meanwhile, in contrast to Zaya’s black and white outfit, Gabrielle delivered the color in a Moschino hooded column dress that covered her from head to toe, embellished in vibrant sequin patterns.
Her outfit was a walking work of art, with intricate beadwork and stunning designs. She completed the ensemble with a few silver rings and a pair of bronze platform shoes, showcasing her unique sense of style.
Despite their different fashion choices, the mother-daughter duo looked stunning together.
While on the red carpet, Gabrielle talked about Zaya being a part of the LGBTQ+ community. The youngster is the daughter of former NBA player Dwyane Wade with his ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches.

Speaking with Billboard, the actress expressed her happiness in bringing her daughter to the event, saying, “It feels pretty amazing because Zaya is my date tonight, and for her to be able to see so many members of her community – of our community – that she’s looked up to, that have inspired her, that have held her down and had her back, is pretty huge.”
Gabrielle continued, “There’s not too many moments as a parent where I get to deliver that in this kind of way. So, I’m just pretty thrilled.”
The 50-year-old actress concluded, “I’m just really happy to be here and happy to be a part of sharing the community with my daughter.”
As for Zaya, she took to her Instagram Stories to express her gratitude for the opportunity to attend the awards and asked her fans to support the organization.

She wrote, “LGBTQ+ rights are so important to me, and I’m always going to strive to do as much as I can in this space.”
The 34th GLAAD Media Awards recognized LGBTQIA+ people in the entertainment industry and their allies.
For the past several decades, they have honored various media personalities and organizations for their exceptional treatment of LGBTQ communities and the issues that affect their lives.
Miu Miu has reimagined the classic knee-high boots with a unique twist. Available at Farfetch, the latest design features a thong-style toe strap, creating a striking detail on the white leather boots.

Margaret Cho hosted the event, and there will be a party in New York City in May, sponsored by Hyundai, Ketel One, Hulu, and Delta.
