Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Diego Schwartzman
Stefanos Tsitsipas is making his return to the circuit after facing a first round defeat at the US Open this year. He was defeated by qualifier Daniel Elahi Galan. Tsitsipas however looks to put his poor showing in Grand Slam tournaments behind and start afresh at the Laver Cup, as he faces Diego Schwartzman on the singles on Friday. The Greek is making his third appearance in the tournament and hasn’t lost a singles match so far.
Meanwhile, Schwartzman is ranked 17th in the world and has a fairly decent run this year in the ATP Tour. He last featured in the ATP Tour at the US Open, where he was ousted from the second round. Much recently he lost in the Davis Cup contest against Sweden’s Mikael Ymer and now looks to get back to winning ways.
Both the players faced each other five times in the past and Tsitsipas has a 3-2 lead in the head-to-head record against the Argentine. They faced three times in this year alone with Tsitsipas winning two matches. Their most recent meeting was at the Cincinnati Masters with Tsitsipas winning in straight sets.

Casper Ruud vs Jack Sock
Casper Ruud got his team off to a great start for the second successive year as he clinched a hard-fought victory over Jack Sock in the first singles tie of the day. The World No.2 started the match on a p[ositive note as he managed to break Sock in the very second game of the first set to lead 2-0. He then managed to hold on to his serves to win the first set quite comfortably 6-4.
In the second set, Jack Sock gave a good fight against the World No.2 as Ruud found it difficult toget a break. Both the players held on to their serves to take the scores 5-5. In the 11th game of the set Sock played some outstanding shots that helped him get a crucial break over Casper Ruud and he held on to his next service game to win the second set 7-5 and took the contest into the deciding 10-point tie-breaker.
The American started the tie-nreak with a 3-0 lead. Ruud managed to get two points soon and leading 3-2, Sock committed a big error as he hit an over head shot straight on the net to level the scores 3-3. This gave the Norwegian some momentum to claw his way back in the contest and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands as he soon maintained his lead to win the tie-break 10-7 and gave the first point on the board for Team Europe.
