Swiss Open Badminton LIVE: – Day 1 of the Swiss Open has begun. Men’s Doubles pair Krishna Prasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala faced straight set defeat against Indonesia’s Muhammad Fikri and Bagas Maulana in the first round of the tournament on Tuesday, 21st March 2023. In the Women;s Doubles, Shikha Gautam and Ashwini Bhat are in action. Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will also get their campaign underway later. India’s unseeded Krishnaprasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala managed just a solitary win in the BWF Tour so far this year. They look for turnaround of fortunes. However, they are up against sixth seeded Indonesian pair Bagas Maulana and Muhammad Fikri. The Indonesian air enter the tournament after bowing out from the quarterfinals at All England Open last week.
MR Arjun/Dhruv Kapila vs Akira Koga/Taichi Saito
MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila started the tour this year at the All England Open. They suffered first round exit at the tournament. They now aim to clinch their first win in the tour.
The unseeded pair will be up against Japan’s Akira Hoga and Taichi Hoga. The Japanese pair made it to the semifinals at the German Open two weeks ago. At the All England Open last week, they faced first round exit and aim to make a comeback at the Swiss Open this week.
Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand vs Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Ramadhanti
After their semifinal run at the All England Badminton, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand are aiming to continue their run in the Swiss Open. The Indian pair however will be facing second seeded Indonesian pair Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Ramadhanti. Rahayu and Ramadhanti made it to the quarterfinal at the All England Open last week.
Ashwini Bhat/Shikha Gautam vs Aupissara Paewsampran/Putita Supajirakul
Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam played in four tournaments so far. They are yet to clinch a win in the season so far. The Indian pair last played in the All England Open and suffered 9-21, 8-21 loss against South Korea’s Lee-Baek duo. They are facing Thailand’s Aupissara Paewsampran and Putita Supajirakul in the opening round.
