Valve outrages Counter-strike 2 players with anti-cheat change: Counter-Strike 2 had a patch on March 30th that has caused quite a stir within the community of limited testers. CS2 has been available to limited testers for well over a week now, and the overall consensus is that it’s a complete game changer.

However, players were not happy with the changes implemented as a part of the march 30th patch. The patch, among other things, changed the wall-hack command and changed the way bullets and tracers behaved.
Valve outrages Counter-strike 2 players by changing shooting seed
Valve in its latest patch has changed the shooting seed style to stop cheaters from being able to manipulate spread seeds in their favor. Essentially, cheaters can make bullets super accurate when spraying, getting dinks left, right, and center.
In CS2, bullets have tracers, and those bullets were previously far closer to those tracers, but they have now reverted to the way they were before, more reminiscent of CS:GO, and players are not happy.
In the March 30th update, Valve restored the shooting seeds setting to something closer to CS:GO’s desynchronized style, but some players had already gotten used to the CS2 setting.
Now, CS2 players are all rallying together to sign a petition to revert the shooting seeds to the style CS2 had originally.

Valve’s decision to revert the spray setting in CS2 was driven by concerns that cunning cheaters could exploit the new feature. However, some players argue that this modification does not significantly impact a cheater’s gameplay experience. Instead, they claim that only inexperienced players will be heavily impacted, as it will hinder their ability to determine the trajectory of their bullets.

Nonetheless, Valve’s decision to revert the spray setting may have been justified as it aims to counter cheats such as those demonstrated in this video.
The desynchronized shooting seeds prevent players from using “spread cheats” that were previously undetectable and could destroy other players. Valve introduced this anti-cheat measure to prevent players from manipulating their weapon sprays, and it appears to have been effective.
Since CS2 is still in beta mode, numerous settings and anti-cheat measures will likely be modified and tested to determine their efficacy. Reports of cheating have already emerged during the beta phase, with some cheats being accessible through the game’s console commands.
Valve’s objective should be to eradicate cheating in early CS2 as much as possible so that players can have confidence in the anti-cheat measures and any changes made to them. However, this shouldn’t be done at the player’s expense. If you come up against a cheater, you’re probably going to be killed regardless.

Networking
- Multiple network traffic optimizations.
- Shooting random seeds are now correctly desynchronized between server and client code.
Visuals
- Fixed positions of overhead labels and ping elements at different resolutions.
- Fixed halo around enemies to not give away their locations.
- Bomb code will now correctly clear when aborting the bomb plant.
- Fixed rare inspect animations to be rare and not every anim.
- Inspect then reload (“f”, “r”, “f”, “r”) more closely matches CS:GO behavior.
- Disabled all development console commands (including “cl_physics_highlight_active 5”).
Gameplay
- HE grenades no longer affect smokes through walls.
- Disabled collisions between ragdolls.
- Players will no longer drop weapons when getting a bonus weapon in Deathmatch.
- Trajectory preview for decoy grenades is now correct.
- Improved behavior of picking up weapons with the use key.
Input system
- Buy menu and scoreboard now allow movement while they have focus.
- Team intro allows voice chat.
- Keys will no longer get stuck when opening the steam overlay.
- Fixed many cases where user input would get confused.
- Multiple actions cannot be bound to one key.
Sound
- Adjustments to smoke grenade sound timing at a distance.
- Fixed a bug where flashbang or grenade sound effect would remain if player died while having that sound effect active.
- Added dedicated player-only sound when a grenade is correctly jump-thrown.
- Fixed chat wheel lines to be restricted to legitimate chat wheel lines that can be configured in game options.
Dust2
- Fixed a hole in the wall.
